Hackers have begun targeting the personal information of recently deceased individuals as part of large-scale identity theft schemes. Therefore, entities that possess the personal identifying information of recently deceased individuals-namely funeral homes, cemeteries, and crematoriums in addition to healthcare provider have become prime targets for sophisticated cyberattacks. This program will explain the threats such entities are facing, the legal implications of data breaches and cyberattacks for such entities, and how such entities can best protect against such emerging threats and reduce their legal exposure in the event of a data breach or cybersecurity incident.
